Please take part in Shannon’s autism research project!
This week I had this request from Shannon, a third year Psychology and Criminology student at Buckinghamshire New University. Please help Shannon learn more about this extremely important subject.
“Hello, I am Shannon Dobson,
I’m currently conducting research for my dissertation based on people’s experiences of the criminal justice system. I am most interested in discovering whether people with Autism have had a different experience of the criminal justice system than those without Autism.
Debbaudt (2004) found that autistic people are on average seven times more likely than those without the disorder to come into contact with the criminal justice system as victims, witnesses or alleged criminals. But it has also been found that the criminal justice system may not have adequate training measures put in place in order to appropriately deal with autistic people that find themselves involved with them. In order for me to carry out my research I am looking for people with Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.
All that you will be required to do is fill out this short 5-10 minute questionnaire.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me on 21130956@bucks.ac.uk
Thank you ever so much for reading this and taking part.
Shannon”
